Adults often think that play is just fun for children. However, play is a fundamental need that promotes children's emotional, mental, physical, and social development. Babies start exploring the world by watching and touching objects and toys. Therefore, it's crucial to consider which toys they interact with and whether these toys properly engage their senses. While we are familiar with the five senses: touch, sight, hearing, smell, and taste, there are additional senses that play a vital role in development. These include: Tactile: Helps the child identify feelings through skin contact. Vestibular: Responsible for balance and movement sensitivity. Interoception: Manages sensations related to internal states such as fatigue and the need for the toilet. Proprioception: Allows perception of muscles, joints, and limb positions. The active functioning of these eight senses is essential for psychological and physiological development in childhood. Therefore, the selection of appropriate sensory toys is crucial. Drawing from my 10 years of professional experience in individual and group therapy with children, I have evaluated TOi TOi's Milestone Collection toys in light of these scientific principles. Mini, Midi, and Maxi series of the TOi TOi Milestone Collection cater to the sensory needs of children at various developmental stages, providing the highest and most sustainable quality. The minimal facial details in all three series help children identify their emotional state with their toy, fostering a sense of security. The plush toys’ soft texture, calming colors, and simple patterns contribute to inner peace and balance, aiding in the development of attention and focus skills. Each series includes features that actively support children, fostering self-control, self-confidence, exploration, independence, imagination, and socialisation skills.

Firstly, I want to express how valuable it is that a toy brand considers the insights of specialists in this field, integrating children's psychological health into their designs. The Milestone collection is categorized into three different groups: Mini, Midi, and Maxi, addressing the developmental needs of various childhood stages. The Mini series focuses on three essential needs during the transition from the womb to the world: touch, sound, and teething. Various textures enrich children's tactile experiences and support their sensory development. The sounds produced mimic ambient noises from the womb, creating a comforting environment without overwhelming stimuli, helping babies feel safe and relaxed. Teething toys aid in developing self-soothing skills during the teething phase. As babies begin to take their first steps, they start exploring their bodies and surroundings, marking their journey toward individuation. The Midi series, which doubles as a bag with plush toys, supports these needs. This feature allows children to move comfortably without separating from their toys, carry their personal belongings, and develop a sense of ownership. The plush toys in the Maxi series are designed with minimal facial expressions, a standout feature of this collection. This design allows children to attribute any meaning they wish to their toys using their imagination, a valuable contribution. The 365-day activity book included with the Maxi series plush toys will inspire families with great ideas and facilitate children in socializing with their friends and engaging in play. I thoroughly enjoyed examining the MinikOiOi Plush Milestone Collection due to its meticulously considered details. I sincerely recommend it to parents.

The plush toys in the MinikOiOi Plush Milestone collection's Mini series are a great choice for meeting babies' tactile and auditory needs during the transition period. The high-quality fabric of the toy is crucial for health and durability, ensuring it can accompany the child for a long time without wearing out, thus contributing to sustainability and environmental responsibility. The ability of toys in the Midi series to be carried like a bag facilitates children's mobility. The absence of details such as writing, patterns, or embroidery enhances concentration and makes it easier for children to form emotional bonds with the toy. This helps children feel more secure and peaceful. Being able to be carried as a bag with its mini pocket allows children to carry some personal items, supporting important developmental traits such as ownership and individualization. Toys in the Maxi series are ideal for children who require a vehicle for social interaction. Their large size helps children perceive these toys as real companions in play. Children can interact with these toys by sitting them in front of them and engaging in conversations, similar to chatting with a friend. The felt activity booklet inside the felt bag includes a game for each day. These games possess features that support sensory, physical, and social development. Life is sometimes overwhelming for children, just as it is for adults. This state of overwhelm can sometimes lead to excessive sensory stimulation. In such situations, you may find yourself facing a cranky and screaming child. Overstimulation occurs when children are exposed to more stimuli (sound, visuals, lights, crowds, movement, activities) than they can handle. Colors, textures, and sounds in all three series of the MinikOiOi Plush Milestone collection are designed in a minimalist way to help prevent overstimulation. At the same time, care has been taken to ensure they do not lack stimuli in specific forms and features.

To analyse the MinikOiOi Plush series in terms of pedagogy, both the psychological and developmental aspects of play and toys are considered. The three series share common psychological and developmental features. These common points have been evaluated within this framework. The Mini series is designed for infants aged 3 months and above, emphasizing minimal and ergonomic product design suitable for their age. Two different fabric textures provide tactile stimulation, a single sound provides auditory stimulation, and soft colors provide visual stimulation. Avoiding overstimulation has been a careful decision from a sensory perspective. During the oral stage, babies explore everything orally, and teething toys fulfill this need. Being removable allows them to bond with the toy and continue using it in the subsequent stage. The Midi series represents the exploration period. Plush toys are designed as bags to enhance body awareness. During this stage, children drag, pull, carry, and nest their toys. Additionally, products with facial expressions that do not convey fixed emotions will enhance children's imagination and allow for unrestricted exploration of emotional experiences. The Maxi series features removable accessories, distinguishing it from the other series. During this period, children love role-playing, developing social skills and problem-solving abilities. This nurtures curiosity about self-care and boosts self-confidence, benefiting fine motor development. Due to their larger size, these toys can be used as pillows in beds. Increased fiber filling compared to the Mini and Midi series ensures an upright posture, crucial for role-playing scenarios.
